CGI to upgrade GSA billing system

CGI Federal Inc. will modernize the General Services Administration’s billing system under a five-year contract valued at more than $43 million.

The U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI Group Inc. will update GSA’s legacy billing and accounts receivable modules and also provide full life-cycle services and infrastructure hosting.

The foundation of CGI’s solution for the GSA Billing and Accounts Receivable (BAAR) initiative is a sophisticated billing engine designed and built specifically for federal billing processes, company officials said.

The contract also includes a suite of Web services that will integrate the solution with partnering applications using service oriented architecture.

As a result, GSA’s trading partners will be able to access the solution via a Web-based bill presentment function that complements GSA’s existing implementation of CGI’s Momentum software.

After implementation, BAAR will have approximately 1,100 GSA users and 5,000 customers completing 1.5 million transactions per month, the officials said.

CGI Group, of Montreal, ranks No. 73 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
