Raytheon to maintain Patriot missile systems

Raytheon Co. will provide information technology and other engineering services for the Army’s air defense system under a $128.1 million contract.

Issued by the Army Aviation and Missile Command, the contract calls for Raytheon to provide systems analysis, software and hardware engineering, and testing and logistics support for the Patriot Air and Missile Defense System.

Under the Foreign Military Sales program, Raytheon also will support the Patriot systems of Germany, The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Israel, Kuwait, Spain, Taiwan, Greece, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates.

Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems is the prime contractor for both domestic and international Patriot Air and Missile Defense Systems and the systems integrator for Patriot Advanced Capability-3 missiles, company officials said.

Integrated Defense Systems’ customers include the U.S. Armed Forces, Missile Defense Agency, and the Defense and Homeland Security departments.

Raytheon, of Waltham, Mass., ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
