Acquisition will bolster work with CSC, HHS, VA and other health agencies

ICF International plans to buy Macro International for $155 million in cash in a move that will bolster the company’s health-related capabilities.

“This puts us in a strong leadership position in what will be a front-burner issue for years to come,” said Sudhakar Kesavan, ICF chairman and chief executive officer.

ICF will pick up $150 million in new revenue and 700 employees. Macro’s customers include Health and Human Services Department bureaus such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and the State, Education and Veterans Affairs departments.

Macro provides research and evaluation, management consulting, marketing communications, and information services.

ICF is ranked No. 93 on the 2008 Washington Technology Top 100 list of the largest government prime contractors.
