General Dynamics to upgrade DISA computing services

General Dynamics Information Technology will support and improve technology infrastructure for the Defense Information Systems Agency under a new contract.

General Dynamics Information Technology will provide comprehensive technology support services to the Defense Information Systems Agency under a five-year, $10.9 million contract.

The award is for the Systems Integration Communications Infrastructure Support program. Under the contract, General Dynamics IT will provide engineering solutions, and network and information system implementation, and upgrades for DISA Computing Services, company officials said.

Specifically, General Dynamics IT will furnish planning support for large-scale mainframe information system and midtier server initiatives, the officials said. The company also will provide detailed design, configuration, staging, implementation and upgrading of Defense Information Infrastructure-compliant communications infrastructures.

General Dynamics IT is a unit of General Dynamics Corp., of Falls Church, Va.. The parent company ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
