Cisco's Boston wins Fed100 Eagle award

Brad Boston wins Eagle award for industry at annual gala.

Brad Boston, senior vice president of global government solutions and corporate security programs for Cisco Systems, took home the Eagle award for industry at last night's Fed 100 dinner.

The annual gala is produced by Washington Technology’s sister publication Federal Computer Week. This year's dinner in McLean, Va., was the 20th anniversary of the award. 

Molly O'Neill, the former chief information officer of the Environmental Protection Agency, won the Eagle award for government.

They were selected from the 100 members of government and industry who were recognized for their achievements during 2008.

Receiving a special President’s Award was Dinah Cohen, director of the Defense Department’s Computer and Electronic Accommodations Program, which works to get assistive technologies to DOD and military personnel with disabilities.

She gave an impassioned speech urging the attendees to not forget about access to technology for disabled groups, particular wounded soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Boston also was recognized in part for his work with the military. One project he oversaw was the installation of Cisco’s Telepresence technology in Wal-Mart department stores in the United States so families could see and talk with their loved ones serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

O’Neill received her award for her work in bringing Web 2.0 technologies to her agency. She left the government at the end of the Bush administration.
