Army issues sources-sought notice for missile technology

The Army Space and Missile Defense Command needs contractors to provide assistance with a full range of needs related to missile defense technologies.

In a sources-sought notice issued March 2, the Army asks qualified contractors to submit a statement of their capabilities. The Space and Missile Defense Command envisions a five-year, multiple-award contract with a combined ceiling of $15 billion. Work would tentatively begin in March 2010.

The work involves the design, development, demonstration and integration of missile development technologies and is divided into 13 functional areas. Among the various requirements set forth in the notice are technology development, prototype demonstration, modeling and simulation, systems integration and data analysis, countermeasure development, production and fielding, and training and mission planning.

Responses, which must not exceed 30 pages, are due March 17.
