Unisys to spur innovation at Army logistics center

Unisys Corp. will provide information technology services to the Army Logistics Innovation Agency (LIA) under a three-year task order that could be worth as much as $7.1 million if all options are exercised.

LIA seeks ways to improve military logistics processes through innovation, experimentation and technology.

Under the task order, Unisys will continue to administer LIA’s unclassified and classified networks and videoconferencing systems and will manage and administer IT hardware so agency employees can perform their jobs securely and without interruption, Unisys officials said.

The company will also continue to provide help-desk services, graphic design support and selected application development, including ongoing creation and management of business process applications.

In addition, the contractor will continue to manage LIA’s Logistics Transformation Platform, a data warehouse used in the development and testing of new solutions, and the systems in the Logistics Processing Center, a proof-of-concept environment for new logistics applications and solutions.

The task order has a one-year base value of about $2.3 million. Two additional one-year options are each valued at about $2.4 million.

The award falls under the Defense Information Systems Agency’s $12.2 billion Encore II contract and is a recompete of a contract Unisys has held since 1999.

Unisys, of Blue Bell, Pa., ranks No. 26 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
