EDS helps Army manage manpower

EDS Corp. will provide human resource assistance to the Army under a five-year, $44.5 million contract renewal.

EDS will help the service use the Army Human Resource System to provide reliable, timely and efficient management of troop strength accountability, soldier tracking by location and other personnel-related actions. As a result, Army commanders will be able to make more informed decisions and better manage personnel, EDS officials said.

The contractor will also develop and maintain related systems, such as the Electronic Military Personnel Office, Deployed Theater Accountability System and Tactical Personnel System. That suite of mission-critical systems enables the Army to easily access Web-based, interactive and accurate military personnel information, company officials said.

The contract renews a previous agreement between EDS and the Army and builds on a nine-year relationship, they added.

EDS, of Plano, Texas, is a division of Hewlett-Packard Co. and ranks No. 10 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors. HP is No. 39 on the list.
