CGI refines Medicare appeals system
CGI Federal has won a contract from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to continue developing a system to handle Medicare appeals.
CGI Federal won a $25 million contract from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to continue developing and implementing a system to track Medicare appeals.
The centers developed a Medicare appeals system to support the mandated appeals processes for the Medicare Fee-for-Service and Managed Care programs. The appeals system is required to support judicially mandated notice and appeal procedures that resulted from a precedent-setting court case.
The contract has one base year and four option years. CGI Federal is a subsidiary of CGI Group Inc.
The Medicare Appeals System tracks and records Medicare appeals through multiple levels of the appeal process, company officials said. The system consolidates data to allow users across levels to realize benefits of reusable, centralized data. The Medicare appeals system supports standard processing of appeals.
CGI Group, of Montreal, ranks No. 73 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
