Lockheed locks up Unitech acquisition
Lockheed Martin completes its acquisition of Universal Systems and Technology.
Lockheed Martin Corp. has completed its acquisition of Universal Systems and Technology Inc. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Unitech, of Centreville, Va., provides interactive training and simulation, homeland security, and technical solutions to the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Homeland Security Department and other U.S. and international government agencies.
The company’s core service offerings include multimedia training and performance support systems, 3-D weapons simulations, security strategies and information technology services, Lockheed officials added.
The acquisition of Unitech positions Lockheed Martin to benefit from increasing demand for operational readiness, training and support, and it extends the company’s capabilities and relationships with several prime customers, said Bob Stevens, Lockheed Martin chairman, president and chief executive officer, in a Dec. 24, 2008, announcement of the intended purchase.
Unitech will be managed by Lockheed Martin’s Simulation, Training and Support division in Orlando, Fla.
Unitech, which was founded in 1988, employs more than 400 people.
Lockheed Martin, of Bethesda, Md., ranks No. 1 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
