Harris taps Meyerrose to lead new unit

Former federal chief information officer Dale Meyerrose is joining Harris Corp. to lead development of the federal contractor’s newly created cybersecurity and information assurance business unit, the company announced today. His position will be vice president and general manager for cyber and information assurance.

Meyerrose is a retired Air Force major general who recently served as CIO for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Meyerrose will be responsible for strategy, business development, and program execution for the new unit. He also will oversee the new Harris Center for Information Assurance at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Fla.

“General Meyerrose has the experience and the strategic vision to pull together the broad and deep cybersecurity and IA capabilities within Harris, combined with new R&D capabilities at the Florida Tech center, and apply those resources to better serving current customers and significantly expanding addressable markets in this high-growth, mission-critical area,” Howard Lance, Harris’ chairman, said in a news release.

Meyerrose formerly served as CIO of several Air Force and joint command units, including the North American Aerospace Defense Command and the U.S. Northern Command. He graduated from the Air Force Academy with a bachelor's degree in economics and earned an M.B.A. degree from the University of Utah.

Harris Corp., headquartered in Melbourne, has about 16,000 employees and annual revenues of $5.4 million.
