BAE Systems Inc. has launched a restructuring initiative that would impact five business lines and eight divisions that form a $10 billion defense operation, reports Defense News.
The restructuring move would consolidate BAE Systems’ Land & Armaments into four new business groups to improve customer focus, boost operational performance and spur growth, company officials said.
Land & Armaments completed a strategic review of the business in 2008 with the objective of building a 10-year global strategy. The move follows the acquisition of a string of land systems businesses in recent years, including Alvis in the United Kingdom and most notably United Defense and Armor Holdings in the United States.
BAE Systems, of Rockville, Md., ranks No. 12 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
