CSC snaps up Log.Sec

Computer Sciences Corp. has acquired Log.Sec Corp., a privately owned information technology and logistics engineering firm. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The company, based in Manassas, Va., provides specialized logistics services, including life cycle, acquisition and sustainment services, as well as a full complement of test support services to clients in the government sector, CSC officials said.

The acquired company, which will become part of CSC’s Defense Division, is the largest IT services provider at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., with approximately 385 employees there and at Fort Monmouth, N.J., the officials added.

Log.Sec’s strong presence at Aberdeen, a key benefactor of the Defense Department’s Base Realignment and Closure Commission, will be significant in bringing CSC’s comprehensive solutions to its clients, the officials said. They added that the acquisition will strengthen CSC’s ability to offer logistics and IT infrastructure solutions, market segments of strategic importance to CSC’s public-sector operations.

The Log.Sec acquisition reinforces CSC’s growth strategy of acquiring select companies that complement the company’s three-pronged strategy of growing the core business, investing in high-growth market segments and acquiring select businesses, said James Sheaffer, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector business.

CSC, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 9 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
