Three vie for Patent Office tasks

Three contractors will help the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) update its computer infrastructure under a contract valued at up to $95 million over five years.

General Dynamics Corp., ManTech International Corp. and Project Performance Corp. were awarded slots on the agency's Infrastructure, Design, Engineering, Architecture and Integration contract.

Under the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, the companies will compete for tasks such as system design, enterprise architecture, and engineering as it relates to infrastructure, networks and accessibility.

The companies also will support the USPTO's application processing and examination functions, management and administration and dissemination of information to the public.

General Dynamics, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors. ManTech of Fairfax, Va., ranks No. 36 on the list. Project Performance Corp. is based in McLean, Va.
