Serco to support Navy price watchers

Serco Inc. will provide technical and other support to the Navy under a contract potentially worth $41.9 million over five years for a program designed to prevent overcharging for spare parts.

The contractor, based in Reston, Va., will furnish technical, analytical, engineering and logistics support for the Navy Price Fighters program, the Defense Department said Nov. 19.

The initiative was established to give Navy buyers more information about costs associated with spare parts. Through the program, buyers can get detailed cost and price analysis, proposal evaluation reports and other technical analyses.

Serco will do most of the work in Reston but will provide some assistance at Navy facilities in Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Philadelphia; and Norfolk, Va. The Naval Inventory Control Point is the contracting activity.

Serco ranks No. 56 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
