Honeywell will assist Navy with logistics support

Honeywell Technology Solutions Inc. will provide a variety of logistics services to the Navy under a contract modification worth $52.3 million.

The terms of the award call for Honeywell to assist the Maritime Prepositioning Ships Program and the Marine Corps Prepositioning Program-Norway. The logistics services include information technology support, maintenance, supply support, inventory and management preservation.

The mission of the Maritime Prepositioning Force is to support the rapid deployment of Marine forces by providing mobile, long-term storage of equipment and supplies near areas of potential trouble, military officials said. In such cases, the ships can respond immediately to provide rapid deployment forces with critical sustaining support.

The contract modification increases the basic value of the cost-plus-fee contract to $810.2 million. Most of the work will be performed at Honeywell Technology Solutions' facility in Jacksonville, Fla. The remainder will be done at various locations in Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan; aboard ships and at six unnamed locations in Norway.

The work is expected to be completed by July 13, 2009. The United States Marine Corps, Blount Island Command, Jacksonville, Fla., is the contracting activity.
