General Dynamics wins $296M Air Force deal

General Dynamics Information Technology will provide core communications and related IT services to the Air Force under a contract that could be worth as much as $296.8 million over eight years.

Under the contract, General Dynamics IT will operate and maintain core communications and IT services for the Air Force Space Command through the Uniform Communications program, Air Force officials said Oct. 31. The agreement covers data, voice, land mobile radio and video teleconference networks.

The award was announced on the FedBizOpps Web site.

The goal of the program is to consolidate management of operations and maintenance associated with communications and IT capabilities throughout the organization.

Schriever Air Force Base, Colo., is the contracting activity.

General Dynamics IT, of Fairfax, Va., is a unit of General Dynamics Corp., of Falls Church, Va. The parent company ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
