EDS provides information assurance to Air Force

EDS will provide information assurance services to the Air Force under a three-year contract.

EDS Corp. will provide information assurance services to the Air Force under a three-year, $17 million contract.

The award calls for EDS to support the Air Force Communications Agency by performing security policy compliance validation activities, developing and interpreting Air Force information assurance policy and procedures, and performing certification and accreditation assessments.

The company also will audit the agency's security communications materials and records.

The company will then make recommendations and offer guidance on information assurance policy and procedure changes.

The contract will help the Air Force identify and reduce system vulnerabilities and increase information assurance awareness throughout the service, EDS officials said.
The Defense Information Systems Agency/Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization award is for one year with two 1-year options.

EDS, of Plano, Texas, is a unit of Hewlett-Packard Co., of Palo Alto, Calif. EDS ranks No. 10 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors. HP ranks No. 39 on the list.
