Computer Sciences Corp. will continue providing support to New York State's Medicaid management information system under a contract extension valued at $322 million over three years.

The company will manage the Web site, data center operations and statewide provider telecommunications network for the system known as eMedNY, and will continue to serve as the fiscal agent for New York's Medicaid program, company officials said.
CSC will perform eligibility verification, service authorization and pharmacy claims processing on a 24-hour basis. CSC also operates a call center and a claims processing unit that converts paper documents into digital images.

The company won the original contract to develop and operate the processing and awarding system in 2000. New York's Medicaid program annually processes more than 350 million claims and generates payments of $40 billion. The contract extension was awarded by the New York State Health Department's Office of Health Insurance Programs.

CSC, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 9 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
