ACS to help Florida trim health care costs

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. will work with Florida to find potential savings in its Medicaid program under a five-year, $44 million state contract.

ACS will run a third-party liability program for Florida Medicaid administered by the state Agency for Healthcare Administration.

As part of the contract, ACS will deploy its business process and Web-based TPL technologies, which search for potential cost savings by identifying alternate insurance sources before Medicaid claims payments. Potential recovery sources include commercial health insurance plans; Medicare; and casualty, estate, trust and annuity plans, company officials said.

ACS has had contracts with ACHA for the past 10 years. They include Medicaid fiscal agent services, pharmacy benefits management, enrollment broker services, choice counseling services, medication therapy management, and the complaint and information call center.

ACS, of Dallas, ranks No. 68 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
