ITT wins Army command and control deal

ITT Corp. will help expand the command and control capabilities for select Iraqi military units under a $25.8 million contract with the Army.

Under the contract, ITT will help boost command and control capabilities for Iraqi signal platoons and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance battalions, the Defense Department said this week.

Command and control systems enable military commanders to effectively plan, direct, coordinate and control forces in pursuit of a mission.

The work is scheduled to be completed by July 21, 2009, DOD said. The Joint Contracting Command for Iraq and Afghanistan, in Baghdad, is the contracting authority.

ITT, of White Plains, N.Y., ranks No. 14 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
