Vista mystery solved
When I wrote last week about my e-mail problems with my new Lenovo computer and the Vista operating system, it sparked several comments from people.A recurring theme was to return the computer and buy an Apple. I'm not going to do that as tempting as it might be. And I don't want to get into a Microsoft versus Apple debate. But within a day or so of the blog posting, I was contacted by Microsoft's tech support. A quick aside, through all of this, Microsoft's and Lenovo's help desks have been very good, even if they couldn't help me. It didn't take an unreasonable length of time to get through and they were always polite and pleasant even as I got frustrated.Anyway, the Microsoft tech explained that the glitch between Vista and Outlook Web Access resided with Outlook's exchange server, not Vista. The issue is something that was discovered during beta testing of Vista and a fix was established for Exchange. Here is a link to the fix in case you are having a similar problem: . One of the commenters on the first blog post also included this link and suggested that the Exchange server needed an update. So this does have a happy ending, sort of. My challenge now is convincing our in-house IT shop to install the fix.Meanwhile, I'll use the basic e-mail and continue exploring this fun new computer ? it actually has a subwoofer, which cracks me up because the subwoofer is only 2-inches wide.
