STG names Fernandes COO

STG Inc. has named Paul Fernandes, an industry executive with 25 years of senior management experience, to serve as the company's chief operating officer.

Fernandes, who has worked at STG since 2004, also served as senior vice president of the company's defense and civilian agencies sectors. He is the only person to have served in both positions, company officials said in an announcement.

Fernandes "is intimately familiar with all aspects of our business," said Simon Lee, STG's president and chief executive officer.

The Reston, Va., company provides information technology, applied engineering, homeland security and scientific support to the federal government. Its clients include the Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Health and Human Services, and Homeland Security departments.

In his new capacity, Fernandes will manage the company's day-to-day operations, strive to improve efficiencies and help drive new business companywide.

"I believe in STG's vision, and my primary focus is to continue to position STG as a billion-dollar company by the year 2016," Fernandes said.

STG ranks No. 96 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
