SAIC to support Army missile program

Science Applications International Corp. will provide missile testing technology support to the Army under two task orders that have a potential combined value of $160 million.

The two five-year task orders call for SAIC to provide modeling and simulation support to the Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center at Redstone Arsenal, Ala.

SAIC will provide engineering and technical services in the areas of system performance and simulation, simulation theory and technology; and distributed real-time, virtual environment and time-critical simulation.

The Aviation and Missile Research Development and Engineering Center is the Army's main facility for providing research, development and engineering technology and services for aviation and missile platforms. The center is under the U.S. Army Materiel Command's Research, Development and Engineering Command.

The task orders were awarded under the Army Aviation and Missile Command Expedited Professional and Engineering Support Services contract. They will further the center's mission of evaluating and analyzing the performance of new and modified weapons systems and providing technical simulation support for Army program managers and other government agencies, SAIC officials said.

The work will be performed primarily at Redstone Arsenal.

SAIC, of San Diego, ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
