Harris names Butler to lead military health care business
Harris has hired Barclay Butler as vice president of the company's Healthcare Solutions business.
Harris Corp. has hired Barclay Butler as vice president of the company's military Healthcare Solutions business.
Butler will lead the company's efforts to solve military organizations' health information technology challenges through research, technical product development, system delivery and service, and innovative technologies.
Butler has extensive expertise as a senior information management and technology professional in the military health care community. He previously was senior vice president at Apptis Inc., of Chantilly, Va. He also served as vice president/general manager at IMC in Fairfax, Va., and as senior program director at Oracle Corp. in Reston, Va.
Before his retirement from the Army in 2003, Butler served as chief information officer for the Army Medical Department and led IT support for the Defense Department's largest integrated delivery system, which consisted of eight academic medical centers and 30 hospitals that provided care for more than 5 million people.
Butler has a Ph.D. in biomechanics and master's degrees in electrical sciences and bioengineering from the University of Michigan, and a master's degree in military arts and sciences from the Command and General Staff College in Kansas. He received his bachelor's degree in biology from Marquette University.
Butler will be based at Harris' offices in Falls Church, Va.
