Boeing establishes new services division

Boeing Co. has created a new division within its Integrated Defense Systems business tailored to meet the technology services needs of its defense and government customers.

The new Defense and Government Services division will become the fifth division within Boeing IDS' Global Services and Support (GS&S) unit, company officials said today.

Greg Deiter will lead the 4,400-employee division, which will include Boeing subsidiaries Boeing Services Co. and Boeing Aerospace Operations.

The service-oriented areas where Boeing is either performing work or actively pursing opportunities include networked technical services, managed network and communications services, energy management and integrated facilities management, and aviation and logistics.

The other four divisions within St. Louis-based GS&S are: Advanced Global Services and Support; Integrated Logistics; Maintenance, Modifications and Upgrades; and Training Systems and Services.

Boeing IDS is based in St. Louis. The Chicago-based parent company ranks No. 2 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
