CACI will develop simulation software for Army training

CACI International Inc. will develop software simulations for the Army's use in troop training under a three-year, $36 million contract.

CACI will develop the simulations for the Army's Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate Modeling and Simulation Division. They will help train soldiers on key command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.

The software will also support simulation applications to make training more realistic and effective in all branches of the military.

Under the contract, CACI will provide advanced, high-resolution 3-D graphics; simulations of ground and air vehicles; terrain mapping; and other features. The company will also upgrade modeling and simulation software and provide technical support for concept development, systems development, and systems integration and testing.

The directorate provides the Army with research and development for advanced night vision and other sensor technologies, such as infrared weapon sights, surveillance systems, and other tools that help soldiers operate at night and under conditions with limited visibility.

This is CACI's sixth contract from the directorate since December 2007, company officials said, and the contracts have a total value of more than $129 million.

CACI, based in Arlington, Va., ranks No. 17 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
