SAIC gets NASA program analysis work

Science Applications International Corp. will provide a range of program assessment assistance to NASA under a five-year, $45 million contract.

The contract calls on SAIC to assist NASA's Office of Program Analysis and Evaluation with independent program and project assessments, and analysis and evaluation services. The office advises the agency's leadership on current and planned NASA programs and projects, costs and schedules.

Because the highly technical nature of such assessments requires a variety of engineering, analytical and project management skills, SAIC's services will include independent assessments, cost estimations, and schedule and risk analysis support. The SAIC team will also conduct independent technical, schedule and cost assessments of NASA projects and programs, and participate in multi-disciplinary teams to provide independent analyses and evaluations.

"We will assess and analyze existing and future programs and projects, including space transportation systems, spacecraft and instruments, and aerospace research," Charles Zang, senior vice president and business unit general manager at SAIC, said in a statement.

SAIC, of San Diego, ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
