Raytheon buys Telemus Solutions

Raytheon Co. has acquired Telemus Solutions Inc., a provider of information security and technical services to federal agencies.

Raytheon Co. has acquired Telemus Solutions Inc., a provider of information security, intelligence and technical services to defense, intelligence and other federal customers. The companies did not disclose terms of the transaction.

Telemus customizes solutions in infrastructure protection, engineering, research and analysis to detect and prevent potential security threats.

The Falls Church, Va., company provides customized vulnerability assessments for government agencies, air and sea ports, water and power utilities, natural gas systems, nuclear facilities and private businesses, which use the assessments to safeguard against intrusions or attacks.

Telemus also offers training courses for organizations to develop a coordinated defensive response to potential attacks and/or intruders.

The acquisition is Raytheon's latest step in building a complete information security portfolio to address customers' security needs, said Michael Keebaugh, president of Intelligence and Information Systems at Raytheon. He said the purchase of Telemus underscores Raytheon's continued focus on the cybersecurity market.

Raytheon, of Waltham, Mass., ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
