MacAulay Brown closes pair of acquisitions

MacAulay Brown Inc. closed a pair of acquisitions this week that boosted its work with the Army, Defense Department, Missile Defense Agency and NASA.

The Dayton, Ohio, company acquired Gray Research Inc. and KosTech Inc. The values of the two deals were not disclosed, but the company expects to reach $200 million in revenue for 2008 and $250 million in 2009.

With the acquisition of Gray Research Inc. of Huntsville, Ala., MacAulay picked up 175 new employees with systems engineering and technical assistance and program management skills. Gray Research works on programs such as Missile Defense Data Center, the Ground-Based Mid-Course Defense System and the Theater High Altitude Area Defense System. For NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, the company has worked on the Crew Exploration Vehicle and Crew Launch Vehicle programs.

"This transaction is consistent with MacB's growth strategy that calls for expanding our customer relationships and the technical depth and breadth to support them."

MacAulay Brown provides technical services in information warfare, electronic combat and command and control systems, and management and logistics services to the government.

In the KosTech deal, the company picked more capabilities in systems engineering, program management and testing support services in the defense markets. KosTech will join MacB Enterprise Solutions Inc., a subsidiary that works on Army initiatives.

The investment bank KippsDeSanto & Co. was Gray Research's financial advisor on the deal.
