EDS Corp. will modernize a tax and revenue system for the Ohio Department of Taxation under a 4½-year contract worth $42.8 million.
The new system will simplify and streamline tax services to Ohio citizens and collect state taxes more efficiently, EDS said in a news release.
EDS' federal-, state- and local-government subsidiary, Saber Government Solutions, will provide the contract services and technology for Ohio's State Taxation Accounting and Revenue System (STARS).
EDS will provide a wide range of services, including program and electronic data management, system integration and data conversion. The company also will be responsible for training, documentation, managed server and storage services.
EDS plans to apply Oracle Corp.'s Enterprise Taxation Management software to implement tax changes more quickly. The Oracle package will enable the state to implement new and additional taxes with no additional software fees, EDS said.
