Alion wins DOD logistics services work

Alion Science and Technology Corp. will provide logistics, maintenance and supply services to the Defense Department under a $34.9 million contract from the Army Contracting Center of Excellence.

Alion will supply the Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force with complete life cycle management systems that will include planning, implementation and execution. In addition, the company will help align resources to improve DOD's top-down, performance-driven results.

The contract also calls for improving workflow and performance for the Naval Air Systems Command's Joint DOD Maintenance Resource Planning Program Office and its customers. The work will affect a number of military installations, including NAVAIR facilities and fleet readiness centers at Jacksonville, Fla., Cherry Point, N.C., and North Island, Calif.; and Marine Corps logistics centers at Albany, N.Y., and Barstow, Calif.

The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity award has a one-year base and four one-year options, which could bring the total value to $187 million. The work will continue through March 2013 if all options are exercised.

Alion's subcontractors include Diverse Technologies Corp., Craig Technologies Co., Professional Solutions, Hampton University, McGlynn Consulting and consultant Susan Foster.
