AGS to support encrypted Army communications

Americom Government Services Inc. will provide encrypted communications services for the Army's Trojan and intelligence and electronic warfare (IEW) systems under a 10-year contract worth $286.4 million from the Defense Information Systems Agency.

The Trojan and IEW systems will provide an operational intelligence capability and a way to enhance the combat readiness of tactical military intelligence officials. The Trojan system consists of a series of fixed and transportable systems in the United States and abroad that are linked by terrestrial and satellite communications to Trojan Network Control Centers at Fort Bragg, N.C., and Fort Belvoir, Va.

The Princeton, N.J., government contractor will perform most of the work at Fort Bragg and Fort Belvoir, and in Europe, Asia and southwest Asia.

The fixed-price indefinite delivery-indefinite, quantity contract has a five-year base period and five one-year options.

Americom provides satellite-based communications technology and services to the federal government. Its customers include the Army, the Air Force, NASA, and the Commerce, Defense, Interior, Justice and Transportation departments.
