Suss consulting launches health IT practice

Suss Consulting has launched a health information technology practice that will focus on emerging opportunities in the federal market.

The practice will help clients develop strategies for capturing business in the growing market niche.

Suss, which provides strategic planning, market research and opportunity capture services in the federal IT market, has six consultants who will focus on what the firm estimates is a $5 billion a year market.

Opportunities are emerging from agencies such as the Veterans Health Administration, Defense Department Health Affairs and health care components of the Health and Human Services Department

The HHS opportunities are at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health, Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

"Our health IT consultants have extensive experience in most of the major federal health IT agencies, programs and initiatives," said Warren Suss, the firm's president.

The consultants are:

• John Cook, a former senior executive at the Northrop Grumman Corp., TRW and BDM health care units.
  
• Dr. Scot Silverstein, a former executive with medical informatics leadership experience at Merck and Co., Yale School of Medicine and Drexel University.
  
• Mike Corrigan, a former senior executive at the Defense Department, General Services Administration and EDS Corp.
  
• Allan Drucker, a former senior executive at the Veterans Affairs Department.
  
• Lee Coogle, a proposal development and program and contract management expert who helped develop the Military Health Systems network security plan.
  
• Mary Lamb, a former senior executive at EDS, GTE and GEIA.
