SAIC scales up for Army mapping project

Science Applications International Corp. will support the Army's Topographic Engineering Center under a two-year, $24 million contract.

The Alexandria, Va.-based center provides warfighters with information about operational environments. It also supports civil and environmental initiatives.

The center does research and development and has expertise in the topographic and related sciences. Under the contract, SAIC will support its mission by engineering and developing software and providing systems engineering and field support.

The contract was awarded under the Geospatial Research, Integration, Development and Support contract. The company, which has supported the Army at the center for the past five years, will perform the work in the United States and overseas.

SAIC, of San Diego, ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
