Raytheon to continue infrastructure support in Iraq

Raytheon Co. will continue to provide the Army with infrastructure services for Operation Iraqi Freedom under a subcontract initially worth $36.2 million.

DRS Technical Services Inc. awarded Raytheon the one-year subcontract, which includes a 2009 option year worth an additional $33.4 million.

DRS Technical Services, of Parsippany, N.J., is an information technology company that specializes in telecommunications, integrated logistics services, systems integration and electronics manufacturing.

Raytheon is providing subcontracting services to DRS as part of the Rapid Response contract from the Army's Communications and Electronics Command.

Under the subcontract, Raytheon will continue to design, develop, install and maintain state-of-the-art command and control, communications and computing facilities in Iraq. The award primarily covers the operation and maintenance of existing facilities, engineering and installation of new services, network information assurance and logistics support services.

Raytheon has been providing critical support to the multinational force in Iraq since the beginning of the conflict, including the multinational forces headquarters and the green zone around the U.S. Embassy. It also includes enclaves throughout the International Zone and outlying bases throughout Iraq.

Raytheon, of Waltham, Mass., ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
