Lockheed gets Navy information assurance job

Lockheed Martin Corp. won a one-year, $36.8 million contract with the Navy to provide information assurance technical support services for the Joint Medical Information Systems.

The contract includes network operations and security, computer network defense, security life cycle management, and identity management, the Defense Department said.

The company also will assist the Naval Warfare Systems Center Charleston and Naval Network Warfare Command with cryptographic repair and modernization in addition to cross-domain solutions.

If all options are exercised during the five-year period, the contract might be worth as much as $189.8 million, DOD said. Lockheed will perform the work in Charleston, S.C.

The contract was procured via the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center E-commerce Web site, with six offers received. The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Charleston is the contracting activity.

The Joint Medical Information Systems Office supports health care operations through design, development, test, evaluation and deployment of medical information systems.

Lockheed Martin, of Bethesda, Md., ranks No. 1 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
