EDS to upgrade VA records system

EDS Corp. will modernize a critical recordkeeping system for the Veterans Affairs Department under a three-year, $14 million contract.

EDS will upgrade the functions of VA's Occupational Health Record-keeping System and Influenza Tracking System capabilities and integrate them with existing clinical systems.

OHRS is the primary clinical records system in use at VA. As a result of the work, users will be able to collect demographic data, monitor employee clinical information and appointments, and generate reports.

The work will support VA's goal of improving data customization capabilities for clinicians, simplifying technical programming and reducing the time required for nationwide distribution of modifications, EDS officials said.

OHRS will be integrated into the Clinical Information Support System framework, which will create a reliable, scalable and secure Java portal that incorporates clinical applications and applicable data feeds.

EDS, of Plano, Texas, ranks No. 10 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
