DISA issues wireless intrusion-detection RFI

The Defense Information Systems Agency is looking for information on systems that can detect and deter unauthorized access to wireless Defense Department networks.

DISA is interested in systems that could be deployed departmentwide or in isolated network enclaves, according to a May 7 request for information.

Agency officials want to increase the security of DOD's wireless networks so they can better handle the transfer of classified data and other activities. Companies responding to the RFI should describe how their systems monitor, detect, log and generate alerts for wireless attacks.

DISA officials are seeking an approach that combines multiple products within a single architecture. The agency is undertaking the initiative on behalf of the Joint Task Force?Computer Network Defense at the U.S. Strategic Command.

Responses are due by June 6. If officials want technology demonstrations, they will be held in the Washington area after the RFI process is completed.
