Cubic wins $166M Marine training deal

Cubic Corp. will deliver realistic, computer-based simulation training to the Marine Corps under a new and expanded training support contract with a potential value of $166 million over five years.

The contract was awarded to Cubic Applications Inc., a subsidiary of San Diego-based Cubic Corp. Cubic has conducted more than 6,000 training events under the current contract.

The company's new Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Training Systems Support contract has an initial seven-month base of about $19 million with multiyear options through May 2013. The contract is a follow-on to an existing five-year contract that will expire May 31.

Cubic has supported the Marine Corps operating forces through the original MAGTF Staff Training Program and its successor, the MAGTF Training Systems Support contract, since 1998.

Under Cubic's current contract, the company provides command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance sustainment training. It also provides Combined Arms Staff training and a deployable virtual training environment capability for individual Marines through senior-level Marine Corps commanders and their battle staffs.

The new contract will support the training base and add Seabee training support for the 1st Naval Construction Division, at Little Creek, Va.
