Cubic ramps up Army Quartermaster support

Cubic Corp. will provide additional field, classroom, computer and hands-on training to the Army Quartermaster Center and School at Fort Lee, Va., under a new $6.1 million task order.

Cubic Applications Inc., the company's government services division, won the task order from the Northern Region Contracting Center to provide 95 additional workers, bringing the total number of Cubic employees or subcontractors at the site to nearly 200.

The additional instructors reflect the increased need for trained Army personnel because of continuing combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Cubic received a five-year, $30 million contract last year to provide training to the Quartermaster School. Under the new contract, the company is teaching soldiers how to operate Army management information systems and logistics functions, such as how to prepare meals and safely store, distribute and transport supplies, fuel and water.

In addition to providing instructors and other personnel to support training at Fort Lee, Cubic will supply a small number of workers to support operational requirements in the Quartermaster Center and School headquarters and the Office of the Quartermaster General. The school has an annual enrollment of about 26,000 U.S. and foreign military personnel.
