EDS Corp. has named a new chief executive officer for subsidiary Saber Government Solutions, which works with state and local governments.

Frank Chechile, a longtime EDS executive who oversaw applications delivery efforts for global clients, will lead Saber, which is based in Portland, Ore.

Chechile replaces Nitin Khanna, who resigned from the company along with his brother, Karan. The men founded Saber to provide software and services to state governments. The change is effective immediately.

Chechile reports to Dennis Stolkey, vice president and general manager of EDS' U.S. Government and Public Sector.

"Frank Chechile is a seasoned and talented senior executive who has spent most of his 23-year EDS career managing major accounts around the world, including Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the Middle East," Stolkey said.

Saber Government Solutions focuses exclusively on state and local government applications in targeted market segments, including motor vehicle administration, unemployment insurance, pensions, human services and voter registration.

EDS, of Plano, Texas, ranks No. 10 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
