Telos to install message system for Canadian military

Telos Corp. will install an automated, Web-based message-handling system for the Canadian Defence Ministry through a new contract.

Telos Corp. will install an automated, Web-based message-handling system for the Canadian Defence Ministry through a new $2 million contract.

Under the terms of the contract, Telos plans to deploy a customized version of the Xacta automated message-handling system. Following testing, the company will install the system in a regional communications node and at a backup site to support messaging services for the Canadian military.

The Ashburn, Va., company will furnish hardware and software and handle installation and special modifications to the product. One of the custom features envisioned is providing services in French and English simultaneously, based on user preference.

Once fully deployed, the system will enable the Canadian military to send and receive messages throughout its armed forces and ? through specially configured gateways ? exchange message traffic with the U.S. armed forces.

The contract was awarded through the U.S. Air Force's Network-Centric contracting program.
