SAIC gets tactical radio system work

Science Applications International Corp. will assist the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command to build a joint system for tactical radios under a task order that could be worth $42 million over five years.

Under the terms of the agreement, SAIC will furnish program management and engineering support services to assist the military in fielding digital, software-defined radios that are interoperable, the company said.

SAIC will work on the project with the program executive office for the Joint Tactical Radio System.

SAIC will perform the work in Aberdeen, Md.; Alexandria, Va.; Fort Monmouth, N.J.; and San Diego. The task order was awarded through the SeaPort Enhanced contract.

SAIC of San Diego ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
