An executive blogger makes his debut

Find opportunities — and win them.
I know that in the last year or so several executives have launched blogs on their company intranet sites. These are closed to the outside world and are seen as a way for senior managers to communicate and connect with people throughout their respective companies. But now comes Mike Zaramba, president of Altron Inc. of Charleston, S.C., and his blog is out there for the world to see.I applaud his efforts, particularly because his postings are not self-serving promotional material. The talks about partnerships between small companies and large companies. He calls it the Dynamic of Bitterness. It is honest and insightful and points to mistakes made by both sides of the equation.Zaramba brings a good perspective to it because until late last year, he was the chief financial officer at Stanley Inc., where he had worked for 15 years. He was with Stanley when it was a 120-person company and he helped take it public in 2006.I hope Zaramba sticks with the blogging. As I know first hand, it can be tough at times to come up with materials. I still struggle with the thought, "Do people really care what I think?"But as a journalist covering this market, I definitely want to know what people like Mike Zaramba think, so I'll be reading his blog ... and maybe stealing some ideas.
