Northrop Grumman to support AF desktops

Northrop Grumman Corp. will provide desktop PC and network support services to the Air Force at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., under a new task order that could be worth as much as $43.8 million.

Northrop Grumman's information technology sector will help develop a strategic plan to consolidate basewide IT services, including information assurance, customer service and Web services.

The task order has one base year and one option year.

"Consolidating Hanscom Air Force Base's IT services will be a cost-effective solution for the Air Force and, as a result, help better serve the base's customers," said Catherine Kuenzel, vice president of enterprise infrastructure services and solutions at Northrop Grumman IT.

As part of the contract, the Air Force has the option to tap into Northrop Grumman's National Work Force Centers, which provide products and services to government and commercial customers. The technology centers are located nationwide and employ IT talent in less-populated areas.

The task order was awarded under the multiple-award Network Centric Solutions contract, on which Northrop Grumman won a place in September 2004.

Northrop Grumman's teammates on this task order include Lockheed Martin Corp. of Bethesda, Md.; Oasis Systems Inc. of Lexington, Mass.; and CCS Presentation Systems Inc. of Chelmsford, Mass.

Northrop Grumman, based in Los Angeles, ranks No. 3 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
