CSC to build out maritime surveillance system

Computer Sciences Corp. will expand the scope of a maritime surveillance system for the Naval Air Systems Command under a five-year, $45 million contract.

Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will provide system development, installation and management outside Defense Department facilities for the SureTrak system, the company said.

Areas targeted for expansion include domestic sites such as Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Va., and the New Jersey Port Authority, as well as international locations such as West African oil platforms. In addition, CSC will develop a prototype system to integration information on Navy ships.

Suretrak is a range surveillance system that integrates and displays tracking data from a wide range of sensors. It helps ensure that military ships, planes and private vehicles stay within their proper boundaries on waterways.

The Naval Air Systems Command in Lexington Park, Md., awarded the contract to the company.
