Ciber gets Connecticut environmental system deal

Ciber Inc. will deploy an air emissions inventory system for the Connecticut Environmental Protection Department under a six-year, $2 million contract.

Under the terms of the contract, Ciber will put in place a Web-based system that the state will use to monitor and manage pollutants regulated under the Clean Air Act. The company will provide an array of services, including for project management, analysis, design, development and system implementation.

The new system will automate various data collection processes that previously were done manually, the company said. The planned system will use Microsoft .NET technology to inventory greenhouse gases and provide reporting of industrial, area and mobile emissions.

The system will not only work in conjunction with the department's existing information technology systems but also with the federal Environmental Protection Agency's IT systems. In addition, it will handle public inquiries made through the Internet related to emissions data.

Ciber, based in Denver, is a systems integrator and IT consulting business.
