BearingPoint names Hunter COO

BearingPoint Inc. has appointed David Hunter as its new chief operating officer.

Hunter will be responsible for daily operations across geographies, business units and corporate services, the company said. He also will spearhead BearingPoint's global operations and work closely with the executive management team to expand the growing Asia-Pacific business and extend the reach of the public services practice to governments worldwide.

Hunter spent more than 30 years at Accenture Ltd., where he devoted much of his career to expanding its Asia-Pacific business and overseeing the government practice.

During his tenure at Accenture, Hunter held a variety of senior positions including nine years as chief executive officer of the Government Global Operating Group and the Asia-Pacific region.

Hunter, who lives in Sydney, Australia, has extensive global experience, having lived and worked in 15 countries.

"He will play a key role in helping us build a stronger organization, grow strategic areas of our client base and execute our long-term business plan," said Ed Harbach, BearingPoint's chief executive officer.

BearingPoint, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 24 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
