Raytheon e-Borders deal grows larger

A team led by Raytheon Co. won $179 million in additional work on its recently awarded e-Borders contract with the United Kingdom.
The Trusted Borders team headed by Raytheon will provide "extended functionality and services" to the U.K. Home Office in connection with the e-Borders contract, the company said.
Raytheon was named prime contractor for the estimated $1 billion e-Borders project in November. The other team members are Accenture LLC, Detica Group plc, Serco Group plc, QinetiQ Group PLC, Steria plc and Cap Gemini Group.
Under the e-Borders initiative, Raytheon and its subcontractors will create networks to link airports and other ports to a central information technology infrastructure. The airlines and transportation operators will collect information on passengers that will be distributed on the networks.
Raytheon of Waltham, Mass., ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
